Top Actors and Heartthrobs in Asia

Piolo Pascual

Piolo José Pascual (born January 12, 1977, Manila, Philippines) is a Filipino film and television actor, musician, model, and producer.

Piolo Pascual, born on January 12, 1977 in Manila, is the youngest son of Amelia "Amy" Nonato Pascual, and Philip Victoriano Pascual who is half-Spanish and half-German. Piolo's father was the son of Harold Herzig, a full-blooded German, and his Filipina wife with Spanish descent, Aurora Victoriano.

While he was in third year high school, Piolo started appearing in That's Entertainment, a popular teen variety show aired in the 1990s. He eventually left That's, however, to get into college full-time, studying at the University of Sto. Tomas (UST), where he took up AB General Education. He later shifted to Physical Therapy in preparation for his immigration to the States. Around 1996, however, Piolo had to put his study and career plans on hold due to his imminent migration to the US.
Pascual joined his family in the US that year. They made their home in Los Angeles, where Piolo worked as an ER representative in a hospital where his mother is working. When Pascual turned 21, he decided to return to Manila in order to pursue his acting career once again.

Piolo speaks fluent English & Filipino.  He is recognized in the Philippines as a very versatile actor, award winning actor, a host, a real good singer but never considered himself a good dancer.

He is the top on the list of Most Handsome Filipino Actors and their achievements.

SOUTH  KOREA

For the South Korean actors, I will just be basing my list on their popularity, achievements, and number of projects they have done.

WON BIN

Won Bin (Hangul원빈; born Kim Do-jinHangul김도진 on November 10, 1977) is a South Korean actor. He first gained wide popularity in 2000 after starring in the television drama Autumn in My Heart and has since gained critical acclaim for his performances in the films TaegukgiMother and The Man from Nowhere.

Won was born and raised in a hamlet in the north of Jeongseon in Gangwon-do, South Korea. He is the fifth and youngest child, with one brother and three sisters. His father was formerly employed in a mine and his mother worked on a farm; both of his parents are now retired. As was common for other children living in mountainous regions, Won spent most of his time playing around with friends in the mountains and rivers, and later explained: "I came back home most nights at sunset with a black and dusty face." He was frequently shy, introspective, and quiet, character traits that would continue to follow him throughout adulthood. While not talkative or outgoing, he excelled at athletics. Won started taekwondo lessons and now holds a black belt. As a young boy, he initially planned to become a car mechanic due to his interest in car racing and motorcycling. Won graduated from a mechanical high school, where he studied car repair and mechanics.
In November 1995, a cable television station was looking to recruit and hire new actors; Won applied and was accepted in his last semester of high school. He started to take acting classes at the station's headquarters and appeared in several dramas. The following month, Won signed an acting contract with a talent agency.
Won made his screen debut with a supporting role in the 1997 drama film Propose. His role in Ready Go! (1998) helped hone his acting chops. After Ready Go!, he took a break and entered a college called Paekche Institute of the Arts in 1998 to take acting classes. In 1999, Won came back to the screen with a lead role in drama Kwangki from which he was recognized as a promising young actor and a teen heartthrob.
Won was appointed as UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador of the Korean Committee on September 6, 2007. He has participated in various programs and charity events in Korea for UNICEF from that time on, and has appeared in several promotional videos.
In April 2008, Won finally confirmed that his re-debut film would be Mother directed by Bong Joon-ho. Filming started in September 2008 and finished in February 2009. The film was selected to compete in the Un Certain Regard section of the 2009 Cannes Film Festival. He walked the red carpet at the film's world premiere on May 16, 2009 in the 2009 Cannes Film Festival. This was followed by The Man from Nowhere released in August 2010.

HYUN BIN

Hyun Bin (born Kim Tae-pyung on September 25, 1982) is a South Korean actor. He is best known for his leading roles in the TV dramas My Name is Kim Sam-soon in 2005, and Secret Garden in 2010.

Hyun was born and raised in Seoul. He has two older brothers. He graduated from Chung-Ang University in 2004 where he majored in Theater Studies. Since 2009 he has been enrolled at the same university to obtain a master's degree.

Hyun Bin's acting career began when an official at an entertainment agency saw Hyun passing by on a motorcycle in high school and approached him.

He shot to stardom in the 2005 romantic comedy My Name is Kim Sam-soon with Kim Sun-ahSam-soon was a massive hit with average ratings of over 37% and 50.5% for the finale, for which Hyun won the Top Excellence Award at the MBC Drama Awards.

In 2010 he saw a surge of fame with Secret Garden, a romantic fantasy about a fussy and arrogant department store owner and a penniless stunt woman (Ha Ji-won) who switch souls every time it rains. The show brought in 30% ratings and garnered much interest regarding its fashion, catchphrases and music, and Hyun was recognized at the SBS Drama Awards and Baeksang Arts Awards for his performance. He also contributed to the soundtrack with "That Man," which peaked at number one in eight Korean music portals.

In February 2011 he walked the red carpet at the 61st Berlin International Film Festival where two of his films Come Rain, Come Shineand Late Autumn screened. He described the honor as his "happiest achievement."

In Late Autumn, an English-language remake shot in Seattle of the 1966 Lee Man-hee classic, Hyun played a man on the run who falls in love with a woman who is on special leave from prison (Chinese actress Tang Wei.) It became the highest grossing Korean film released in China to date, taking in more than US$9.5 million over two weeks, which was unprecedented for a melodrama. He received a good review from The Hollywood Reporter which stated, "It is Hyun who impresses more for not underplaying the dandy, narcissistic side of his personality.

LEE MIN HO

Lee Min-ho (Hangul이민호hanja李敏鎬, born June 22, 1987) is a South Korean actor and model. He is best known for his leading roles in Boys Over Flowers (2009) as Gu Jun-pyo, the leader of a group of students known as F4, romantic comedy Perfect Taste/Perfect Match (2010),  action drama City Hunter(2011) & romantic comedy drama The Heirs (2013).

Lee was born in Heukseok-dongDongjak-guSeoul, South Korea on June 22, 1987 and has an older sister. He is majoring in Film & Art at Konkuk University.

As a young child, Lee hoped to become a professional football (soccer) player, but an injury in the 5th grade of elementary school put an end to his dream. Lee, however, still keeps up with football and has stated that Cristiano Ronaldo is his favorite player. In his second year of high school, Lee turned to modeling and acting. After going through training, Lee started auditioning and landed small roles in several television dramas. His first role was in an EBS series, Secret Campus. Early in his career he used the stage nameLee Min because his agency thought his birth name was too ordinary. Finally he changed it back to his original name due to the Korean word imin (pronounced and written in Hangul in the same way) means "immigration" and thus internet search results for his stage name were poor.
In 2006, his acting career was put on hold for a year following a serious car accident in which he was severely injured. In 2008 he appeared in various roles on television (dramas Get Up and I Am Sam) and two movies, Public Enemy Returns and Our School E.T.. During the shooting of the latter he became good friends with Kim Soo-ro, who later praised him on a variety show: "I recognize a star when I see one. When I was doing 'Our School E.T', I knew that Lee Min-ho would become one of the top actors in the country".
His breakthrough came in 2009 with the lead role of Goo Jun-pyo in Boys Over Flowers (KBS2), the Korean adaptation of the popular Japanese television drama Hana Yori Dango, which was based on the popular Shōjo mangaBoys Over Flowers (花より男子 Hana Yori Dango). Audition for the role was so fierce Lee only got to know from a newspaper that he was cast.
In 2010 Lee followed up the success of Boys Over Flowers by starring in the MBC TV drama Personal Taste in which he played an ambitious perfectionist young architect who poses as a gay man to become roommates with a young woman leading to romantic complications. When asked about why he chose the role during an interview he responded "I think I would do a better job playing heavy and more defined roles when I am older. I think "Personal Taste" was perfect because it is bright, cheerful but you can also laugh and cry over it as well."
In 2011, he starred in the hit action drama City Hunter. The drama's popularity throughout Asia has also contributed to Lee's growing popularity in Asia, most notably in Japan, Philippines and China. On April 6, 2012, Lee announced on his Facebook page that he would appear in a new drama called Faith (Hangul: 신의, Rom.: Shinui), which aired from August to October 2012.
On March 29, 2013, Lee revealed that he will be returning to the small screen with a new drama titled The Inheritors (also known asThe Heirs). This show began airing in Korea on SBS on October 9, 2013. His new project gained attention, because he worked with the writer of Secret Garden. He also released his first album and went on a 10-city fan meeting tour in Asia. In April 2013 his wax figure was unveiled at the Madame Tussauds in Shanghai.

In July 2012, Lee was chosen as the most attractive male celebrity in TV commercials for cosmetics brands. The community portal site DC Inside carried out a survey on “The most attractive male celebrities in TV commercials for cosmetics brands, who make women open their wallets” from June 26 to July 3. As a result, Lee ranked first. On July 4, DC Inside reported Lee had received 17,532 (38.9%) out of 45,049 votes.
