JERICHO ROSALES IN MALAYSIA TO DO HIS FIRST TV SERIES OVERSEAS (2013)

MANILA -- Jericho Rosales is gearing up for a packed 2014, as he is set to star in two TV series -- ABS-CBN's "The Legal Wife," and a new soap opera produced by Malaysian TV network Astro.

The 34-year-old actor shared his excitement for the latter project shortly after a press conference held Tuesday for "ABNKKBSNPLAko?", the Viva Films adaptation of the Bob Ong book, where he will co-star with Andi Eigenmann.
The film, directed by Mark Meily, will hit theaters on February 19.

After promoting the "ABNKKBSNPLAko?" leading up to its premiere, Rosales said he will fly to Malaysia next month to continue filming for the new series set partly in the country.

"My role [in the series] is a chef. It's about a chef. Love story siya set in Australia, Manila, Kuala Lumpur. English 'yung mga eksena," Rosales said. "I'm going back in Kuala Lumpur for another 10 days, and then I will go to Australia, and then the entire team will come here to shoot."

Rosales first revealed the project in February 2013, saying it was offered to him as early as 2012.

The Kapamilya star enjoys some popularity in Malaysia due to "Pangako Sa'yo," which was aired in the country also by Astro to become one of its highest rated programs. The ABS-CBN series, which originally ran for two years starting November 2000, launched the "love team" of Rosales and former real-life girlfriend Kristine Hermosa.

In 2008, Rosales also co-starred with Malaysian actress Carmen Soo in "Kahit Isang Saglit," which ABS-CBN co-produced with Malaysian production outfit Double Vision. The series also aired in Malaysia, at the same time it ran on primetime TV in the Philippines.

Currently, Rosales is also busy promoting "The Legal Wife," which will premiere on ABS-CBN's Primetime Bida block on January 27. The project, directed by Rory Quintos and Dado Lumibao, co-stars Angel Locsin, Maja Salvador, and JC de Vera.

Asked how he is juggling several projects at a time, Rosales said, "They ('The Legal Wife' production team) were nice enough to allow me to go, so we're shooting everyday until April. After April, honeymoon na!"

Rosales was referring to his upcoming wedding with Filipino-Australian TV host Kim Jones, which is set in May.

His former on-screen partner, Kristine Hermosa, was also offered the same project but there
are still no reports whether or not she accepted the offer. The beautiful actress has been inactive in showbiz after marrying actor Oyo Boy Sotto in 2011.
It was the hit series Pangako Sa’yo that catapulted Rosales and Hermosa to fame and made them household names not only in the Philippines but also in other parts of the world. The series was also well-received when it was released in countries like Malaysia, Indonesia, Singapore, Thailand, Cambodia, China, Ghana, Botswana, Uganda, Tanzania, Kenya, Zambia and Cameroon.
When the series starts production, Jericho Rosales will have to stay in Malaysia for up to four months. According to the actor, some scenes wil also be shot in the Philippines and Paris.
It is not the first time Rosales ventured in an international project. In 2011, he starred in Subject: I Love You, an American film based on the “I Love You” computer virus.

The award winning actor has an Indie movie, Alagwa, which won best picture and Jericho won Best Actor in FAMAS & Urian in 2013 and also in:

  • 2013 Newport Beach Film Festival
    • Winner-Outstanding Achievement in Acting - Jericho Rosales
  • ASEAN Film Festival
