Top Filipino Artists

Filipinos are of mixed-race/mixed ancestry.  So if you meet a Filipino who has a fair skin, colored eyes, taller in height, pointed nose--chances are, he/she is also a full-blooded, naturalized-born Filipino (by full blooded biological Filipino parents).  The reason for that is because eversince the Philippines had been discovered a long, long time ago,  Indonesians, Malaysians, Chinese, Spanish/Portuguese, Japanese, and the Americans, and other nationalities have migrated to our country and started a new life. So do not be surprised if you meet a Filipino who is different from the description you have in mind. (like brown-skinned, with black color eyes, flat noses, curly hair, and shorter in height).

In the Philippine local tinseltown, I have not heard of any Filipino actors that undergo facial or plastic surgery, they are just naturally good looking. They just go to the gym and get fit all the time in order to maintain having large muscles and strong built, plus obtain that 4-6 pack.  They also go for skin maintenance or dermatologists to help them take care of their skin.  It is a must for actors and actresses to look good with or without makeup.

Filipino Actresses, on the other hand, bloom naturally beautiful as they mature.  They go to the gym, too, to maintain that sexy figure.  Although some of them still undergo slight facial or plastic enhancement to slightly enhance their features such as their eyelids, nose, cheeks, and chin.  Not to mention, liposuction, buttocks enhancement, bust enlargement are included. And the crowning glory should be kept well groomed, shiny, and straight. Some actresses have naturally fair skin since birth, others are getting fairer especially if there are several well known dermatologists such as BELLO and CALAYAN that take care of their skin.  But if you see these actresses without makeup, they still look good. You would not notice any of those enhancements, because they have always been beautiful no matter what.

Having nice features, sexy figure/buffed body, nice smile, nice hair, and talents are all hard investments that actors and actresses should work on in order to be in demand and get more projects, and stay in the business.

I will be adding more info once in a while so keep in touch!

Music and voice
Sarah G.'s  music is generally pop and sings songs mostly about love. Her voice is premier and her music encompasses all genres.  International producer Christian de Walden praised Geronimo's voice and said "The personality of her voice is phenomenally distinct. Many have great voices but they tend to imitate foreign divas like Mariah Carey or Whitney Houston. She definitely is the biggest talent I have come across with in the last ten years...".

She’s wholesome on and off camera, untainted by unsavory rumors. She’s an ideal daughter and that makes her a good role model for the youth.”

Wilson Lee Flores of The Philippine Star quoted "She is a breath of fresh air in terms of wholesome image, humility, real talent and source of good news for the Philippine entertainment industry". In 2005, Geronimo was awarded with "Pinoy Wannabe Awardee", a prestigious Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards given to a celebrity whom kids consider as their role model.

Geronimo however admitted it’s not always easy protecting that image especially since everyone looks up to her as a role model for young people. She said “It’s a bit hard although I’d like to become a role model.

Piolo Pascual piolo3 Piolo Pascual     8ow4f81vb18o8fvo Piolo Pascual

Piolo José Nipols Pascual (born January 12, 1977, Manila, Philippines) is a Filipino film and television actor, musician, model, and producer.  He is also best known as "Papa P." by those female fans and female celebrities because they personify him as the kind of man every girl would like to take home to their parents. He started his career in 1994 and up to this time, he is the most sought after actor in the Philippines. He speaks fluent English and Filipino, and he sings and acts well.  Just do not make him dance, he will not do it whatever it takes.

Piolo, with other artists including Sam Milby, another Philippine Heartthrob, goes on worldtour every year to entertain Filipinos all over the world.

    Early life

Pascual was born on January 12, 1977 in Manila who is the son of Amelia "Amy" Nonato Pascual and Philip Victor Pascual. Philip Pascual was the son of Harold Herzig (paternal grandfather of Piolo), a full-blooded German, and his Filipina wife; however, Herzig died while his son was still young, and his wife married  another Pascual.

Pascual grew up enjoying a close bond with his siblings--Chiqui, Paulette, Pam, Choi, and Patricia--despite their own father's early death. His father was a casting director for international films that are shot in the Philippines, influencing his ambition to become an actor, ramp model or a performer. Living an ordinary life, he went to school and spent time on outings and celebrations with his family. Pascual attended grade school and high school at St. Francis School in Santa Ana, Manila. When he was in Grade 5, Pascual joined the school theater group, Teatro Ni Kiko, wherein he was introduced to the world of theater and acting.

While in third year high school, Pascual started appearing in That's Entertainment, a popular teen variety show aired in the 1990s. He eventually left the show to get into college full-time, studying at the University of Sto. Tomas (UST), where he took up AB General Education. He later shifted to Physical Therapy in preparation for his immigration to the States. While in UST, he joined the university theater group, Teatro Tomasino. Despite being a newbie in the group, he got in the play "Juan dela Cruz in New York City", where he was the only newcomer accepted.

    ABS-CBN and Immigration

At 18, Pascual auditioned for the ABS-CBN kid show ATBP in 1996, after being urged by his then manager Noel Nuguit. He also had an early movie credit in the film The Untold Story: Vizconde Massacre 2 - God Have Mercy on Us (1994), directed by Carlo J. Caparas where he played Jussi Leino, one of the suspects.

After being spotted by a talent scout, Pascual tried his luck at the ABS-CBN Talent Center. In 1996, he passed the auditions and was supposed to be included in the Star Circle, Batch 2 (which included Diether Ocampo and Marvin Agustin). However, weeks before the launch, Pascual left for the U.S. to attend to his U.S. petition, something which his mother had worked for in the past year.

Despite strong protests from his mother, Piolo flew back to Manila after staying in the States for only a few weeks. Star Circle Batch 3 was formally launched in ASAP and he was offered a six-month contract by ABS-CBN. He stayed for six months, and then had to return to the US. His planned three-months stay in the States lasted for more than a year. He worked in a hospital, in the advertising field and in other odd jobs which included becoming a security man at the Oscar Awards. In the U.S., he joined acting workshops where he refined his acting skills.

In 2003, he won all of the Best Supporting Actor awards from every major award-giving body in the Philippines for his role in the critically acclaimed film Dekada '70. That same year, he broke into the Philippine music industry as a solo recording artist, releasing four albums under Star Records, and performing at sold-out concerts across the country and abroad. Aside from being one of the most sought-after male actors in Philippine entertainment today, he is also one of the most bankable commercial models in the country, visible in advertisements for over a dozen major brands and companies in the Philippines.

Dekada '70 was the Philippine entry for the Best Foreign Film Language category in the 76th Academy Awards in 2004. In addition, Dekada '70 was exhibited in the New Cinema of the World section of the Cannes Film Festival in May 2005.

Pascual is a member of ABS-CBN's Star Magic. He celebrated his 10th year anniversary in 2007 with a coffee table book (Piolo: Believing), a fifth solo album (Timeless), and a solo concert at the Araneta Coliseum.

Pascual turned producer with Manila, an independent twinbill film. After its world premiere at the Cannes Film Festival in May 2009, Manila had its official Philippines premiere on cinemas in July 2009 as the opening film of the 5th Cinemalaya Film Festival.

He can also be seen every Sunday on ASAP Show with other popular ABS-CBN Stars.

Pascual returned to the Philippines in August 1998 to continue his stalled career. He was represented for a while by Joji Dingcong, who eventually brought him back to ABS-CBN Talent Center, which welcomed him back and gave him a five-year television/management contract. That year Johnny Manahan Vice President for ABS-CBN Talent Center, launched Pascual as a solo actor, reintroducing him as Piolo Pascual.

Pascual got a supporting role in the movie Batang PX (1997) directed by Jose Javier Reyes. He also got a key role in the soap opera Esperanza which starred Judy Ann Santos. However, it was in the weekly primetime series Sa Sandaling Kailangan Mo Ako, directed by Olivia M. Lamasan, that he got his big break. In 1999, he received an Asian TV Awards nomination for Best Drama Actor for his portrayal of the villain Raffy in the said TV series. After his successful role in the series, he was offered a two-and-a-half-year contract for five films by Star Cinema and Crown-7. In the same year, he also appeared in the film version of the series, Esperanza: The Movie.

    Big Break

Piolo Pascual's first big cinema break, came in the movie Lagarista (2000), directed by Mel Chionglo, where he played the title role. For his performance, he received his first Gawad Urian nomination for Best Actor. The film was exhibited at the Toronto, Pusan, and Hongkong film festivals.

After Lagarista, Piolo undertook a series of projects, in which he was paired with Judy Ann Santos, leading to one of the more famous love teams in recent Philippine cinema history: the movie Kahit Isang Saglit (2000), the TV series Sa Puso Ko Iingatan Ka (2001-2003), movies Bakit 'Di Totohanin (2001) and Till There Was You (2003). Their latest pairings were in 2006 in the film Don't Give Up On Us and the soap opera Sa Piling Mo.

Pascual also appeared for a supporting role in Mila directed by Joel Lamangan opposite [[Maricel Soriano]. Portraying Primo, the drug addict lover of school teacher Mila, he received a Best Supporting actor nomination for a Luna Award (formerly The Film Academy of the Philippines).

In 2002, Pascual was cast, along with veteran actors Vilma Santos and Christopher de Leo
n, in the film Dekada '70, a movie based on Lualhati Bautista's popular novel of the same title. Directed by Chito S. Rono, the film centered around a woman and her family's struggle during the Marcos regime in the Philippines. For his role as Jules Bartolome, he garnered a Best Supporting Actor grand slam, earning a total of eight awards that began with the Metro Manila Film Festival in December 2002 and ending with the Gawad Urian in May 2003.

Since then, Pascual has been paired, on both the big screen and small screen, with many of the famous young actresses in showbusiness, such as Angelica Panganiban in the movie Mangarap Ka, Claudine Barretto in the movie Milan (2004) and the TV series Walang Kapalit (2007), Bea Alonzo in the film Dreamboy, and Regine Velasquez in the movie Paano Kita Iibigin (2007).

Currently, Pascual's career is managed by Johnny Manahan, now the Senior Vice President for ABS-CBN (Star Magic). On July of 2007, Pascual signed another exclusive three-picture contract deal with Star Cinema. He starred in a TV series Lobo with Angel Locsin, formerly GMA's biggest star who recently moved to ABS-CBN.

He is currently starring in the Philippine remake of a popular Korean TV series, Lovers in Paris, in which he is paired with Sharon Cunetas daughter KC Concepcion.

    Singing Career

In 2003, Pascual formed part of ASAP Mania's popular singing and dancing quintet, the Hunks, together with Diether Ocampo, Carlos Agassi, Bernard Palanca, and Jericho Rosales. They frequently appeared in the variety show, establishing their popularity, which led to a sitcom entitled Bora: Sons of the Beach.
Since then, Pascual's singing career has led him to four album releases for Star Records, mount a solo concert at the Araneta Coliseum, and several road shows both locally and abroad. In the film Don't Give Up On Us, Pascual also performed the theme song for the movie. His self-titled first album went platinum four months after its release. In his second album, "The Gift" and "Hindi na Lang Ikaw" were both number one hits. With less than two months, his sophomore album turned platinum. His third album turned gold a week after its release.

Pascual celebrated his 10th year in showbiz via his second solo major concert entitled Ten: Piolo Pascual at the Araneta Coliseum (Big Dome) last 30 November 2007. During the said concert, Pascual also launched his new coffee-table book, entitled Piolo: Believing, which is a chronicle of his life in both text and pictures.

He bagged the title "Male Recording Artist of the Year" from the 38th Guillermo Mendoza Memorial Scholarship Foundation in May 2008, together with other artists from ABS-CBN and GMA.

    Personal life

He has a son Iñigo Lazaro who was born in 1997. He currently lives in California with his mother. Pascual says that he also works in the Philippines to support his son. Piolo is not married to Inigo's mother nor they have a rekindled relationship as far as romance is concern.

The Philippine Star 01/14/2007I HATE PEOPLE...

Piolo: ...who have no respect for others.

Piolo:...who try to take advantage of me, who kind of use you.

Piolo:...spending time with The Lord. Also, spending time with my family, or even simple gatherings with them. (Piolo’s mom and sister flew in from the US to celebrate his 30th birthday last Friday, Jan. 12. – RFL)

Piolo:...oh gosh, it’s too embarrassing to tell...too embarrassing actually. Too disgusting! It happened when I was in high school. Oh no, I’m too embarrassed to recall what it was. Okay, among my worst moments is when I forget the lines of a song that I’m singing.

    Piolo:...losing my loved ones.

    I PRAY BY...

Piolo:...talking directly to The Lord. I talk to Him as if He’s just beside me, like I would talk to a friend of mine. Also, by singing. (According to the book Powerful Prayers by Larry King, any song that has a spiritual message – such as I Say a Little Prayer For You, I Believe, My Prayer and the like – is a form of prayer. – RFL)

Piolo:...I would be a dog. Dogs are like human beings. They can even be more loyal than human beings. They take care of you and your home.

Piolo:...when my sister figured in an accident last year and I didn’t know if she was okay or not. I saw her at the hospital and I was scared. I was terribly afraid of losing her.

Piolo:...not really ignoring it but looking at it as part of the business.

    Piolo:...The Bible.

    Piolo:...No, I’m not. I’m excited, actually. It’s something I look forward to.

Piolo:...are the simple ones. Those who are faithful to God and who have self-respect. Traditional girls.

Piolo:...Pass! I refuse to answer that.

Piolo:...let go and let God. That has been my motto, my guiding principle, as far as I can remember.

Piolo:...I lack sleep and someone is annoying me or talking too much.

Piolo:...I won’t say it’s really fantasizing, but what takes so much of my time is thinking about The Lord and how I can serve Him better...spending time talking to Him and being sensitive to whatever it is He wants me to do.

Piolo:...the President (of the Philippines) so I can reform the country.

MY NEW YEAR’s RESOLUTION IS... be more compassionate, to have more time to spend with The Lord, to do more quality movies and shows.

RP top hunk promotes United Nations' MDGs

    by Angie Costelo

Far from the klieg lights, intrigues, attention and publicity, Super star Piolo Pascual takes a break from showbiz world for a day to pledge his commitment to help promote the awareness among Filipinos on the United Nations Eight Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) in the light of the nearing deadline to achieve the global targets by year 2015 last Friday.

The eight MDGs seek to solve the world problems and challenges on extreme poverty, education, gender equality, child mortality and maternal heath, the spread of HIV/AIDS, and environmental sustainability, and in creating a global partnership for development.

Encouraged by National Youth Commissioner Michael " Mike" Francis Acebedo Lopez to use his popularity to represent issues that truly matter, the influential singer/actor reportedly readily accepted the challenge of this new role in helping raise awareness on the MDGs and what the private sector can do, especially youth and student organizations, to help the government achieve its goals relative to the Millennium Declaration.

Last September 21 at the University of San Carlos Cultural Center, Piolo spoke at USC's 1st International Students' Night and asked more than 200 foreign students from at least twenty countries and over a thousand Filipino students to concentrate more on MDG-related activities for their organizations. "You have gone "beyond borders, within worlds", privileged and lucky to see and experience a different culture other than your own. But as you've left your countries, always be reminded that there are even more, millions, if not billions, of young people who are left in their own countries, continuing to suffer in a quagmire of poverty and ignorance. And even many of those who have braved distant lands have fallen prey to various unfortunate circumstances," he said in his speech.

He continued, "there are many issues affecting our youth, issues that know no boundaries. Issues that transcend race, creed, and culture. The blatant disregard for our environment has lead us to our current sorry state where global warming threatens our very existence. Ignorance of countless young people on the ills of substance abuse and importance of responsible and value-oriented sexuality has lead to the rise in the incidence of drug addiction, HIV/AIDs and even abortion. Poverty and little or no access at all to quality education for millions of children continue to be a problem in our country and overseas".

Endorsing the MDGs and UN's Stand up, Speak out Campaign, Piolo further emphasized this by saying that "Governments have committed to solve these problems through the eight United Nations Millennium Development Goals or the MDGs. But with the year 2015 deadline for the MDGs fast approaching and still a great deal is yet to be accomplished, the challenge is to join our governments in trying to realize these goals. Doing our own little share in achieving the MDGs can surely contribute to the attainment of these goals, hence, the realization of the dream of a better life for mankind".
"As we seize opportunities for ourselves, we should also take every chance we can to contribute to positive change and endeavor to fulfill our role in making this world a better place. Ladies and gentlemen, I have played many roles, but this is one role I am more than willing to play with all of my heart. I am Piolo Pascual, I am an actor, a Filipino, a human being. And I want to do my share. I hope we can all do our share", he said as he ended his speech.

Piolo was also earlier conferred with Commissioner Lopez and international award winning singing sensation Raki Vega at the USC Buttenbruch Hall as Haribon Foundation's Ambassadors for Conservation, becoming the new faces representing the cause of environmental preservation in the country. Piolo and Raki were introduced to Haribon by Lopez.

Piolo has also committed to help Lopez in raising initial funds for the building of the Philippine International Youth Center through a benefit concert slated in the first quarter of next year. The center is envisioned to be a state-of-the-art and modern facility, complete with a hostel/dormitory which will cater to the needs of Filipino and foreign youth leaders and organizations for their trainings, seminars, and conferences, among others, on different pressing issues, most of which are already outlined in the UN MDGs.

If realized, the NYC hopes to pattern the operation of the said facility after the Youth Centers in progressive Asian countries which is "almost free" of charge to accredited youth organizations asking only for utilities and overhead cost.

    2013 TV Drama

Piolo Pascual is currently in a 2013 soap opera, "Apoy Sa Dagat" that is being aired on Primetime on ABS-CBN Channel 2 in the Philippines.  He plays opposite award winning actress Angelica Panganiban and hunky star Diether Ocampo.

One of Jericho's passions ---- Surfing!

Jericho Rosales Covers Mega Man Magazine September 2012 Issue

Jericho Vibar Rosales (Echo), born September 22, 1979  in Quezon City, Philippines is a Filipino cinema and television actor, singer, and songwriter. He is the uncle of young actor John Manalo.

Jericho Rosales attended New Era University  for his secondary education and was later discovered on the television program Eat Bulaga Mr. Pogi 1996.

Rosales became a household name when he was paired to actress Angelika dela Cruz in the primetime drama series Esperanza and in the teen horror flick Oka Tokat. However, his breakout role came when he landed the lead role in Pangako Sa 'Yo alongside actress Kristine Hermosa. The success of his team up with Hermosa led to two blockbuster films; Forevermore and Ngayong Nandito Ka.

After the successful run of their first primetime series together, they headlined another primetime television series Sana'y Wala Nang Wakas, a series that would reunite him to his former loveteam Angelika dela Cruz and former "The Hunks" mate Diether Ocampo. After the success of Sana'y Wala nang Wakas, he starred in the epic fantasy series Carlo J. Caparas' Ang Panday with Heart Evangelista, Victor Neri and then unknown Derek Ramsay.

He also played a starring role in Pangarap Na Bituin with Sarah Geronimo, Maja Salvador and Rica Peralejo and made a guest appearance in the television series I Love Betty La Fea. He was paired again to Kristine Hermosa in the legal drama Dahil May Isang Ikaw with Gabby Concepcion, Chinchin Gutierrez, Karylle and Lorna Tolentino. He also starred other successful TV series such as Green Rose with Anne Curtis and Dahil Sa Pag-Ibig with Piolo Pascual.

    Personal life

He is the non-showbiz brother Jeremiah Rosales. His nephew and former child actor John Manalo, and his cousin/DZMM anchor Ricky Rosales.

Last 2011,   Jericho celebrates 15 years in showbusiness.

JERICHO Rosales celebrates his 15th anniversary in showbiz on Dec. 23 (Friday) via a grand, major, and free concert that happens at the Riverbanks Amphitheater in Marikina City. Aptly dubbed as "Kinse (Labing-limang Taon (15) ni Jericho Rosales)," this spectacular event aims to account Jericho’s breathtaking and awe-inspiring career, which dates back to 1996 when he broke into the business as an aspiring young artist ready to embark on what would be one of the most life-altering journeys and adventures of his life!

"Kinse" is Echo’s way of paying homage to his fans for the solid, unwavering, and steadfast support that they haven given him for the past 15 years. "The Lord has blessed me with so much and there are so many things for me to be thankful for," says Jericho. "I am given the gift to touch the lives of so many people and make a positive difference in their lives. I will not be where I am today without the support and love of my fans."

For Echo, Marikina City is the perfect venue for "Kinse" since it is the place where he started to envision his dreams which eventually became actual realities as a result of his determination, hard-work, and faith. "Marikina is very special to me. I have wonderful, unforgettable memories there growing up. I feel like the concert is sort of a homecoming for me."

Indeed, since his "Mr. Pogi" days in "Eat Bulaga" some fifteen years ago, the young Jericho has truly come a long way! With a string of consistent award-winning films, top-rating teleseryes, numerous brand and product endorsements, and a thriving musical career to his credit, Jericho has never forgotten to look back to his roots where his foundation both as an artist and as a person was built. "Through the years, I have learned a lot of good values. As a young man growing up in Marikina, I learned to appreciate hard work, integrity, and commitment. And I have my team, close friends, and family constantly reminding and inspiring me to remain thankful and humble."

Today, Echo is currently part of the ensemble cast of "Yesterday, Today, Tomorrow," Regal Films’ entry for this year’s Metro Manila Film Festival as directed by Jun Lana. Fans and film buffs can look forward to seeing more of Echo in the silver screen as he renewed his contract with ABS-CBN, which includes a three-picture deal with Star Cinema. Echo is also officially a Regal Baby because he also signed a deal to star in three upcoming films under Regal Films. Critics and fans are also buzzing about "Alagwa," his first venture in the indie circuit as a producer.
On TV, Echo is set to appear on the much-waited and highly-anticipated soap on ABS-CBN’s Primetime Bida block, "Padre de Pamilia" under the direction of Darnel Joy Villaflor. His groundbreaking reality series "I Dare You" will return for a second season in 2012 and he continues to showcase his formidable hosting, dancing, and singing prowess on the weekly noontime variety show "ASAP."

As one of the country’s top celebrity endorsers, Echo renewed his ties with Vaseline, Advil, Jericho Cologne for Natasha, and Walker while adding Smart and Vantage Razors with his list endorsements.

"Kinse" is a musical narrative concert that chronicles notable highlights of Jericho’ life and career which is considered by many as both inspirational and aspirational. Fans can look forward to an unforgettable evening of beautiful music with Echo in "Kinse" as he performs his hit songs culled from his Platinum full-length CD "Change" under Star Records including "Pusong Ligaw" and "Bumuhos Man Ang Ulan." Echo will also perform selected tracks from his next album for the very first time.

Joining him as his special guests are Gabriel Valenciano, Lovi Poe, Salamin, Gary Valenciano, and other surprise guests.

Actor Jericho Rosales won the Outstanding Achievement in Acting Award for his film "Alagwa (Breakaway)" at the Newport Beach Film Festival.

Jessy Mendiola For Esquire Magazine Philippines

Jessy Mendiola For Esquire Magazine Philippines

Jessy Mendiola For Esquire Magazine Philippines

    Early life

The 5'4 ft.  (163 cm.)  Mendiola was born on December 3, 1992 in the United Arab Emirates where her father used to work. She is the second of three siblings, of Filipino mother and a Half Lebanese - half British father. She was three years old when her mother moved and brought her and her elder sister, Pamela to the Philippines. Her mother left her father due to his infidelity. Her younger sister, Megan was born in the Mexico when her parents reconciled but then separated again because of unknown reasons. She remains in contact with her father, who now works overseas as a marine anthropologist. Mendiola studied college in Far Eastern University, Manila.

She may be popular now, but fame didn’t come easy for Jessy. She was 14 when she and her sister joined a workshop under Star Magic in 2007. Among the workshoppers then, it was only Jessy who caught the eyes of starmaker Johnny “Mr. M” Manahan.

“I can still remember Mr. M asking me ‘Gusto mo bang mag-artista?’ The clueless me back then answered, ‘Is it okay if pag-isipan ko po muna? Can you give me three days?” After discussing the matter with her mom and siblings, Jessy signed up with Star Magic, the country’s most prestigious artist management arm. But she did not say “yes” to Mr. M’s offer because she wanted to be an actress, but rather because she felt the need to be the family’s breadwinner.

“Life wasn’t easy for us especially before I entered showbiz. I grew up without a dad and it’s only my mom who was working to support our needs. I’ve experienced very tough times. I have experienced not having much. I even experienced eating instant noodles for dinner for many days,” she shared.

Jessy was born in Dubai to a British-Lebanese dad and a Filipino mom. She moved to the Philippines when her mom decided to start anew here. Growing up apart from her dad, Jessy saw her mom as both a mom and a dad to her and two siblings.

“My mom has been working hard all her life. That’s why it was very easy for me to take a stand and unburden her of the responsibility of providing for our family,” she explained.

From being a simple high school student, Jessy’s life turned 360 degrees when she entered showbiz and began acting on television. Like any other rising star, she went through a series of workshops and did minor roles on various ABS-CBN programs. She waited long hours on the set, with only minimal speaking lines. Slowly, the reluctant star began to embrace her newfound passion, acting.

“I have learned to love my craft and it motivated me to do better. I am working not only to provide for my family, but because I have started to enjoy acting. I realized that I really want to become a good actress,” Jessy revealed.

She finally got her break in 2010, when she was launched in her first title role as “Sabel,” a show that marked the beginning of her reign as ABS-CBN’s next Teleserye Princess. She has also become one of the country’s favorite cover girls after being featured on the covers of top glossy magazines such as Metro, Chalk, Men’s Health, Meg and Preview. She has also proven to be a sought after product endorser after brands Head & Shoulders, Myra E, Boardwalk, Bench and McDonald’s tapped her to be their image model.

Jessy Mendiola was one of the 18 new talents launched by ABS-CBN under Star Magic Batch 15. She, along with Megan Young,Alfonso Martinez, Carlo Guevarra and her Star Magic batchmates, joined the cast of Star Magic PresentsAbt Ur Luv when it was revamped to Abt Ur Luv Ur Lyf 2 in 2007. She had a minor role in Sineserye PresentsNatutulog Ba Ang Diyos?

In 2008, she was cast as Chappy Girl in the TV series Volta, which was adapted from the Star Cinema film of the same name.
Mendiola was supposed to appear in Habang May Buhay. She was featured in the 2008 trailer of the show which was originally titled asHumingi Ako Sa Langit. The TV series, which was supposed to air in 2008, was cancelled, reshot and recast.
In 2010, she had a guest appearances in George and Cecil, playing the love interest of Dino Imperial's Jun. Mendiola revealed that she was pulled out of Habang May Buhay and was cast as Christina in the TV series Kung Tayo'y Magkakalayo instead.[6] Due to good feedback, her one week guest appearance in Kung Tayo'y Magkakalayo was extended. She was later cast in Your Song Presents:Gimik 2010, playing the role of the reformed rebel teenager Jessy. Mendiola was supposed to appear in Kokey @ Ako, oppositeEnrique Gil, but their characters were written off in favor of Melai Cantiveros and Jason Francisco. She eventually returned as a recurring character in the last few episodes of Kung Tayo'y Magkakalayo.
She portrayed lead roles in Maalaala Mo Kaya's "Marriage Contract" episode[9] and in the "Kakambal Ko'y Manika" episode of Wansapanataym. Her biggest break is playing the title role of the ABS-CBN afternoon TV show Sabel.
In 2011, when Sabel ended, Mendiola joined ASAP Rocks. She along with Empress SchuckEnchong Dee and Sam Concepcion are referred to as ASAP's "Dance Quad". Earlier, she portrayed Isabel Valderama in Agimat: Ang Mga Alamat ni Ramon RevillaPresents: Bianong Bulag. In April, she joined Showtime as one of the guest judges and appeared as Risa in the Maalaala Mo Kayaepisode, "Medalyon". She recently played the role of Jackie Marasigan in the ABS-CBN teleserye, Budoy, opposite Gerald Anderson. She will be also starring in the film The Reunion with Enrique GilXian Lim and etc. She is also set to star in the new PHR Romances Presents: Paraiso with Matt Evans and Matteo Guidicelli.

    Opportunity in Korea
Kapamilya star Jessy Mendiola just can’t have enough of South Korea, where she recently had a stint for a TV network and a magazine shoot.

“Bumalik ako doon for a pictorial for a cover shoot for a magazine. Sobrang ganda ng Korea. Mas malamig ngayon kaysa noon,” (Korea is very beautiful. It's colder there now than when we shoot for World Date with Shinee), Jessy said in an interview on “Umagang Kay Ganda” recently.

Jessy joined Korean Broadcasting System’s “World Date,” where she and other girls from various countries had a meet and greet with Key and Jonghyun, members of K-pop group Shinee.

Jessy shared that Koreans recognized her upon her return.  The star of “Paraiso” (Paradise) even got special treatment in the hotel where they stayed.
“In-upgrade pa nila noong nalaman nila na ako. Naging comfortable na ako sa Korea,” she said. (They even updraded my room after learning that it was me (whom they saw in World Date). I became comfortable in Korea.)

Jessy added that she wants to do more projects in Korea.

“Gusto ko pang mag-work doon. Gusto ko pang maka-trabaho ang mga Koreans doon.” (I still want to work there.  I still want to be able to work with Koreans there.)

Jessy has become South Korea's Honorary Ambassador to promote South Korea to the Filipinos.
